right on... I have 1968-2015 50c and 1968-1986 Nickel dollars. Haven't started on anything silver as off yet. Debating if I'm going to collect them raw or simply just purchase ICCS graded ones.

Most of my halves came from sets and the newer ones are BU from rolls...those actually look quite good. For the older halves (silver) I am trying to get the best grade I can get based on funds. I used to have the nickel dollar set. Quite heavy for pages!

How come you don't have a '67 yet? It's a pretty common date.

I'm working on it. Long ago I had it but had to sell my coins because things weren't going so well at work. Slowly rebuilding...

Always loved the REV of these. Growing up I used to get to banks up in Canada when I could and ask for halves. It was amazing how many banks never had them. I remember one time letting one of the tellers know that, Yes, Canada DOES make half dollars

My aunt gave me a 1967 RCM mint set that she had when she was a kid (she was born in 1967). Most of the coins a lot more toning than I would like. Nice lot of halves!

Interesting how many people from the U.S. call them a half dollar. In Canada (at least Western Canada) I hear them called more often 50 cent pieces. At least that is what I still call them.
I started collecting them a year ago when my dad gave me 22 different circulated silver ones. I decided to collect from 1937 forward. I am just missing two of them at present, not counting varieties.
I find the coat-of-arms too busy looking. It is not my favourite coin.

I always thought the 50 cents didn't match the other Canadian coins. You've got a maple leaf, a beaver, a sailboat, a caribou, voyageurs in a canoe, those all seem similar. But then the 50 cent piece is a very formal coat of arms.

At least that is what I still call them. Some of us southerners are actually aware of this, but tend to fall into old habits when at home. Just don't ask most of the people down here what a flashing green light means on a traffic signal.
