Saw this one the ebay, after reading about the other toned goose on this site I thought I'd go on a goose hunt myself haha ha. The listing says it takes decades to get toning like that? I wonder if it's some sort of environmental damage?
Thank you understood tunnioc. I think it's rather interesting that can be done, just saw a video on you tube. This seems quite unattractive. One could gather this didn't take years as stated in the listing, and is in fact quite poorly carried out.
NT doesn't look like that. That said, it is possible to naturally expedite the process of NT in a controlled environment to the point where it's indistinguishable. There is one ebay seller that swears up and down he doesn't AT his coins, but to this day I remain skeptical, and ICCS doesn't question it.
Wade... I've tried a similar method and perhaps I did something wrong but most of the toning afterwards simply rinsed off.... (I think I may have used the wrong type of sulphur)
Having said that I don't think this was done by an electrolysis reaction, I'm thinking this is from using a silver dip... see how it's almost all the same tones throughout and just blotches of different colours and tones. My suspicion is that this coin was exposed to some sort of "silver cleaner" or dip that has been used on MANY MANY silver coins in the past and then left to dry while on the coin....
