I have kept up with this case since it started since I saw it for what it was: Silencing of someone the government saw as a serious enough threat to their power that they took illegal action for which they knew no one could or would hold them accountable. Welcome to modern DC.

Summary: Liberty Dollars were created as an awareness of the inherent problems with the Federal Reserve and the worthless money (backed only by thin air) we use daily. Like other private issue currencies, they were legal. And the other currencies contonued to exist while the largest, Liberty Dollar, was targeted by Federal thugs. Liberty Dollar's popularity was growing so people were waking up to the sham of the system we endure and the overwhealming power it gives to the Feds.

Liberty Dollar was illegally shut down and assets seized by an FBI raid. Public scare tactics were used by the Fed to get people to stop using them - even to the point of telling people it could be illegal to own them coupled with rumors of confiscation. ebay was told to stop allowing sales of them on their site Although LDs were never completely stopped on ebay, the number of pages of them for sale per day dropped drastically. Before the illegal seizure, huge number of LDs were added to ebay daily. I cannot estimate the drop in auction numbers, but I remember perusing page after page after page daily. Today there may be 1/4 or 1/5 of what used to be.

The owner of LD was taken to court (find and read the court documents online). The trial was a farce where they enlarged a Mercury dime OBV and put it side by side with an LD picture ( ASE sized) trying to show the LD was an attempt at counterfeiting. They sentenced him to up to 22 years in jail (see below). However, (granted this is an assumption), it seems the Feds knew what they were doing was illegal b/c the LD owner spent a record time (for the state of North Carolina) in waiting for his actual sentence to be carried out. It looks more like the government just wanted to scare people enough, and let time pass until the public forgot about Liberty Dollar in general. The whole scenario stinks of organized crime.

However, as of today, the LD creator/producer is free:

LIBERTY DOLLAR ALERT:
December 09. 2015

Judge Voorhees Orders Early Termination of BVNH from Probation

Dear Liberty Dollar Supporters!

For the first time since being arrested for counterfeiting and conspiracy on June 4, 2009, I am off probation and free! Earlier today, Judge Richard Voorhees issued a Court Order for early termination of my three year sentence.

Please click HERE for the Court Order.

I light of the fact that I was facing 22 years in federal prison, the three years of probation is the closest I or the Liberty Dollar will ever come to a vindication.

Meanwhile, the forfeiture case has been moving at light speed with 265 Petitions approved in record time and the balance have moved along very well. I am soo pleased that soo many Liberty Dollar supporters refused to let the government steal their property.

And of course, one of the most unique turn of events, is that the actual Gold and Silver Liberty Dollars are being returned! In a time when seized property is rarely ever returned and if so, it is in the form of those dreaded non-Federal non-Reserve Notes. The Petitioners will receive actual Liberty Dollars! How cool it that!?

Words cannot express my sincere appreciation for all of you who took a stand for a value based currency and supported the Liberty Dollar. My heart goes out to those who have been harmed or not lived long enough to enjoy the blessings of their activism.

Many many thanks for your staunch support of the Liberty Dollar!

So yes - the government is returning peoples' LDs to them. The government is actually letting go of money they took illegally. What they once scared people into thinking might be illegal to own b/c they were counterfeit, they will be giving back. But, like other things so common these days, the government used criminal tactics and will not have to pay for it. At least this time no one lost their lives over it.

I miss being in the America I grew up in - I am ashamed at the thug tactics used nowadays. The government has always has problems. But current levels of deceit and treachery are reaching record levels with no end in sight.

Ben Kenobi would find Mos Eisley was full of cream puffs compared to modern DC.

I'm a collector of Royal Hawaiian Mint issues.

There has been a Christmas special email from Telle Presley. This is the 3rd day of the sale and most are sold out.

Of particular interest to Hawaii Dala collectors is a newly identified 2007 King Kalakua Hawaii Dala with counterstamp.

Here is the Krause Publication identifier (without counterstamp)

On ebay just type "norfed" in the search bar. Presently just over 200 up for sale. It will now be interesting to see how these rounds do over time. They already had been quite collectible and valued b/c of what they stood for.

Now that the owner has been vindicated, I can see them escalating in price from a more patriotic point of view (which is why they were popular to begin with for many people). Only time will tell.

I like the design on them, so obtained a few. They are beautiful in hand. They were made from the same silver blanks that ASEs are struck on.
