Don't want to hijack the thread, but looks like others have posted their nickel roll searching results here as well so I thought I'd share my first nickel box results:

25 pre-1950's including: 38, 40S, 41, 41D, 45P, 46D, 47S, 48S, 48D(2), 49D, 49, 52D, 53D, 54D, 55D, 56D(3), 56, 57D(2), and 58D(3)

I thought it was a pretty good variety.

My Jefferson set is now missing just 10. (39S, 41S, 43D, 44D, 49S, 50, 50D, 51S, 55, 58)

Hey DylandDad ... to the nickel searching thread ..... great to have you check in with us.

I'll speak for CND ..... you are not 'hijacking' the thread by posting here ...... we encourage all posts about nickel roll searches!

BTW ..... CND is the monster of nickel searches .... and a few of us are doing our best to keep pace ... but falling ever behind .... I'm at 110,000 coins searched and post on occasion my 10,000 coin results.

For you .... 25 pre-1960 is EXACTLY the long-term average of the group ..... and the coins you need are the ones we all struggle to find.

Keep on searching .... post often to let us know what you find.

Glad to have you here.

David

to this thread, DylansDad!

This thread has turned into an unofficial place for everyone to post their nickel roll and box finds, and I love reading all of them! Keep them coming! Another update coming in the next hour; no key dates this time!

Question for the nickel guys, I posted this on another thread earlier.

Has anyone come accross the error on the modern buffalo yet? Its the die gouge error which appears to be a spear through the gut of the buffalo on the reverse. I heard it existed but have never seen anyone mention it on this board. Figured with the volume of nickels that are searched someone is bound to have found it.

AGCH,

I look at every one of those; haven't found one yet. Would love to, though!

I've been getting boxes of customer rolled nickels from a bank that I don't have an account with. They are usually in an empty quarter box. I've been averaging 25-30 pre 1960. The last box I got had 3 War Nickels. Todays had 2, 1944p & 1944D. I also got a 1963 proof. No key dates and only 1 s mint, a 1941s. I don't have the ambition to keep a detailed record like you guys! I'd rather be searching halves, but when they are scarce I grab some nickels and hope for some luck and the elusive 2009.

I have not seen one in person but saw many and some versions on ebay. I have 15 or 20 OBW rolls of Bisons. I don't know if it is a D or P.
I figure I would someday look through the rolls, but I think those speared nickels were found in US MINT WRAPPED rolls from what I recall. I certainly could be wrong.
I wouldn't buy one, they always struck me as a silly thing.
Speared buffalo?
Everyone knows you shoot buffalo with a buffalo gun anymore anyhow.

Hi Dylans Dad, Thanks to CND for starting this thread. I think one of my first posts was here. I think it's everyone's posting place for nickel searches. You guys are my favorites, cause we have this in common.

I picked up 10 rolls of nickels at lunch and got a 1945 P War Nickel. I had about half a dozen pre-1960, but nothing special. I need mostly S mints to finish my collection, and they are very tough to get in NJ.

Hi Wheezy!

Thanks for the accolades; I appreciate it! It is folks like you, NickelSearcher, and many others who help keep me going when I start dreading going through another box of nickels (that rarely happens, by the way! Every new box is an adventure!) I should hit the halfway point of this marathon by the end of the weekend, and hopefully you will all keep track with me of the next 12,500 rolls!

Keep your energy up CND ..... You are the MASTER of circulated nickel roll searching.

I've been at this hard for over a year .... and my puny 2800 rolls searched is what you go through in a few weeks .....

Your regular updates are a benefit to all of us .... please keep them coming.

I respect your quest ..... and wish for you the best possible outcomes when you are done ..... whatever that may be.
