Nice finds CND.

I go through boxes and rolls from time to time with similar results.
I have enjoyed reading your regalar postings, especially when you found the 50-D.
Just a few days ago, I found a 42-D myself. A few months back, I also found an AU 48-S. Aside from nickels, in the past month I found 1907 dime while roll searching, and a 1987 proof half from a local bank.

I found a 1866 nickel 3 cent piece in a coin reject bin yesterday after dumping some nickel! First 3 cent piece I've found in circulation!! The box of nickels I dumped had only two dozen or so pre 1959's in it, and no silver or semi-key's. Yet another day where the machine rejects are better than the rolls themselves.

Very nice XOG Congrats on that one! That rivals my 1867 2 cent I found in a coin counting machine!

Limit myself to 20 rolls/day. '41's&64's are plentyful.

Wow XOG ..... outstanding ....that is worthy of a photo.

CND .... two more updates and you'll be half-way there. Amazing. Good score on the 42d ..... that is a tough coin to find based on my seraching ..... I average 1 every 56,800 coins searched.

Also note the six (6) 58p in this set ..... not rare but I find one every 5,979 coins ..... so you sure beat the odds by snagging 6 in two boxes.

As for the four 41s ...... another data buster .... my experience is 1 find every 12,622 coins.

All-in-all a very impressive update.

Now ..... on to roll searching.

Found my first ever Liberty nickel last week going through a box. Super excited. It's an 1883 that I would guess was a VF+. At first I was a little bummed b/c the reverse was removed and someone had engraved (with some skill) initials on it. Did a little research and discovered what I had was actually considered a "love token". These were popular in the 1880's through early 1900's. Most commonly they were done to dimes and finding nickel love tokens is supposedly quite rare. So now with that knowledge I like it even more. Helps personalize the coin a little more and it has history associated to boot. Pretty neat. No pics yet, will post when I can.

I did a Box of Nickels today. Nothing special 3-War Nickels and a 1938s.

mrak,
Guess you dont know if its a no cent or cent on reverse but cool find with the love token. One of my V's is an 1883 no cent type. The cent type seems to have more value.

CTweis: NF are the boxes I normally seem to get. 3 Silver in a box is very good for me as well, Lately the 1938 has been 4 of my last 7 boxes. =)

Catching up on everybody's most recent posts.....

XoG, what a find on the 3 cent nickel! I found a silver dime in a Coinstar a few weeks ago, but I'd probably jump up and down in the store if I found something like that!

Nickelsearcher, the 6 1958p is a typo; should have said 58d! Although about a year ago I did have a bank box that contained 22 1958p. That one made no sense at all!

mrak, congrats on the high grade 1883! I am listing in a minute the 12400 roll update, but I am halfway through the 12500 update and I found a 1909 Liberty. Not nearly as nice as a 1883!

AG, $400! Sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead!

Now, for another update!

Got 2 boxes and 39 rolls from various banks today. No key dates but got alot of pre 1960! The loose rolls were a mix of customer wrapped, bank wrapped paper and p;astic Brinks rolls. They were okay and yielded a few S mints. The first box yielded alot of pre 1960, 1 War Nickel and 2 dateless buffalo. The second box was interesting as it yielded only 10 or 12 pre 1960 but 5 War Nickels! So I think it was a pretty good box!
