2004 Bahamas Five Cents

Had to post a photo of this; after going through a half a million nickels this is one of the finest, if not the finest 30+ year old coins I have come across! The photos do not begin to do this coin justice; it had to have come from a mint set!

So glad for you, now that you hit halfway, were you tempted to say that's enough? I also wondered how many of these you have held back and saved. How many rolls did you keep out of 12.500?
Best of luck on the second half!
I think pretty soon somebody should be notifying the Guinness Book of World Records people.

Did a bag $200 and $200 in rolls this weekend, here are the results:

Bag
21 Pre-60's
1 War (45S, I need for my book)
I think this bag was part of someones dumping because of the abnormally low amount of pre-60's. Was very happy to find the 45S though..

100 Rolls
47 Pre 60's
1 1936 Buffalo

Wow that is quite a dismal number of finds, I'm sure you will make up for it in the next box. I personally have ranged from 13-108 in a single box so in the end, the averages all work out. Best of luck and don't give up!

Couldn't find any bank willing to turn loose any boxes today so I grabbed as many rolls I could get from 5 different banks and ended up with 105 assorted rolls (customer wrapped and Brinks). Nothing exciting out of the CWR'S but I did get a 1929 Buffalo,1942D,1944P(silver) & a 1964 Proof that was staring at me out the end of the Brinks roll! (This is one 1964 I was happy to see)

Ratman, how can you tell nickels are proofs? Mint Mark? From time to time I run accross a well struck coin that has a different look to it. Just last night I found a 1983 that was a slight bronze color and in real good shape. I hung onto it, but wasnt sure it was a proof or not.

On the later dates they will have an "s" mintmark. But the earlier dates like the 1964 were minted in Philadelphia and have no mint mark. If you know what a proof coin looks like, then they can be spotted. The final determining factor for me were the steps!

Just finished off another box tonight.

39 pre-50, including 23 different dates/mints.
38, 39, 40, 40D, 41, 42D, 46, 46D(2), 48(2), 48S, 48D, 49, 49S, 49D, 53D, 54D(4), 54S(2), 56D(2), 56(2), 57, 57D, 58D(7), 59D(3)

The 49S filled a hole, and one of the 58D's was a MS BU that hadn't seen much street time for sure.

My Jefferson set is now missing just 9. (39S, 41S, 43D, 44D, 50, 50D, 51S, 55, 58)

Did 100 rolls last night with the following results.

35 - Pre-60's
1 - 1926 Buffalo (needed to be nic-a-dated)
1 - 1986 Canadian nickel

Was able to upgrade several of my coins and filled one hole, the 1951S (7.8 million). Nine more holes to fill in my book. Was overall pleased but still missing quite some of those early War Nickels. Was really hoping for a few of them.
