I've been having trouble getting nickels lately. Boxes are impossible - the banks just don't have them. Even customer rolls have dried up. Loose Loomis rolls are turning out to be mostly 2023's. Even penny boxes are drying up; the last 3 boxes I got were all brand spanking new, from 2 different banks. The customer rolls are drying up, too. I honestly don't know what's going on in my area. Are people just not turning in pennies and nickels anymore, so that the Mint is cranking out new ones? I've been through this kind of "feast or famine" before, but that was more during the pandemic. Anyone else seeing this? On a side note, I did find a War Nickel in a customer roll, I think a couple of days ago, so it's not a total loss.

Have noticed shades of what you describe above, in that the circulated MWR we get lately lean heavily toward 2020-2023. Last 40 roll hunt was thin. I think a dozen pre-1960, which did net us a 1943P and a 1936P buffalo, but not too many good finds otherwise.
We have seen our average find rate drop from one every 2 rolls or so to one every 3 or 4, and the 2009s have been VERY sparse. Haven't found any in weeks and we hunt quite a lot. I also wonder if it's bank specific since I only have an account at one large bank. Occasionally other banks oblige but without accounts elsewhere we are limited. I might drop $25 for a South State Bank account just for access!

A lot depends on the part of the country you live in and what bank(s) you use... I'm in Southern California, and Wells Fargo has always never had issues getting me coin - Brinks services them here. Very rarely are their boxed coins brand new. Chase and BofA are not nearly as good in terms of providing coin in my personal experience... BofA tends to get a lot of brand new boxes - Garda services them here. US Bank is ok (when they have coin), but varies A LOT from branch to branch.

Agree with John77. It's often a matter of geography.

Decent finds to justify the effort.

Today's 20 roll effort yielded the following: 2 1951P, 1956P,1958D, 1957D, 1946 and 1948D; and, a 1944P War Nickel. Pretty good for 20 customer wrapped rolls.

That is excellent ^^^ for 20 rolls! A find every 2-3 rolls is what I averaged til lately. And silver in any hunt is awesome.
In a 40-roll hunt a few days ago I pulled a double clip, 1977 S proof that must have recently entered circ, a 39 P, two 41 P, two 46 P and - in one roll - a 48 S and 55 P. Otherwise not much to speak of. Today we got 40 rolls of uncirc 2023 P which I sent right back for bills.

Finally found some circulated Loomis nickel rolls from a different bank yesterday. Out of 16 rolls hunted, I found a 1944-S War Nickel, which is also an album filler, so definitely a good win there. Aside from that, only a (common) 1939-P to speak of; the rest are just common 40's and 50's. Now I have 12 holes left to fill:

Catching up here... went through 6,800 nickels on 6-14 and 6-15-23... 1930, 1935-S, and 1937 Buffalo nickels along with 1943-P and 1945-D (my first of the year!) War Nickels, along with 4 2009-Ds were the highlights... The next two groups of nickels I bought (6-17 and 6-20-23) were pretty uneventful.... 1,800 coins searched brought me 14 pre-60s, but nothing harder to find than a 1942 Philly... and no 2009 coins. Today I got 800 nickels from my "lucky teller" at my favorite branch, and, sure enough, she brought me luck AGAIN... a quite average 7 pre-60s, but one was the tough 1953-S. Even better, there was an impaired proof 1975-S , a 2009-D , and a 2009-P! . The 2009-P is my first in almost 2 months, incidentally. Incredibly, this marks the 11th straight week I've received either a V, Buffalo, War, Proof, or 2009-P nickel (or some combination thereof from said teller)... Both V nickels (both 1910s) I've received this year were from her, as have been 3 of the last 4 2009-P coins. BTW, the vast majority of these coins have come from MWR. I've been doing this for over seven years now, and have never had a stretch like this (or anything remotely close) with a single teller ever. Since the 520 pre-1965 coin hoard (280 pre-60s, including a 39-S, 5 49-Ss, a 50, and 13 51-Ss) which marked my first visit on April 11th, I've purchased between $30 and $50 of nickels from her 17 times, and only twice did I not find, at the very worst, a better-date nickel such as a 48-S, semi-key such as a 49-S, or the better-date coins listed above. And one of those two "bad" groups produced 2 2009-Ds... Digressing, for the 2023 calendar year, I'm just four coins from completing my 4th Jefferson nickel set from this 7 year run of CRH. Missing are the key-date 1939-D, and 1942-P, 1943-D, and 1944-D War Nickels.
