Now that I have my digital microscope and I have built my shadow box I am starting to photograph my collection. This will be a daunting task, I have more than 1800 coins in my main collection. I am starting with my Flying Eagle cents and my Indian Head cents. As I was photographing them I realized that I most likely will never complete this set, they are in a Dansco 7101 album. I have 24 Dansco albums at this time, 14 of them are either filled or up to date, at least another four are nearing completion and the others are way out there. My question is this; Which Dansco albums do you own that you will never complete (fill all the holes)? Like I said for me it is the Indian Head cents #7101 album. I know that a lot of you will say the 7070 album, I don't ever, ever, ever picture completing this album either so it dosen't count.

My type set album is the only one I care about, and I have one more to go (with motto Seated dollar) by 7070 standards. However, I have the Library of Coins type set albums, 1969 edition, and I don't think I'll ever complete those. I bought myself some counterfeits from the no-no site to help me get over the empty holes.

Let's see the photo setup and some samples shots I need to get some of mine documented. I have completed one Jefferson nickels (still need to find a 1950D from circulation like the rest of the coins in the set for street cred), SBA, Washington quarters, Statehood Washington quarters, Roosevelt dimes, and Barber halves. I need 1 more SLQ (will probably not happen), 1 more Mercury dime (will probably not happen), 3 Walkers (will probably not happen), 3 V nickels (will probably not happen), and 3 Sac dollars which I am holding out from buying to find roll hunting. I am done buying buying coins so the other sets like Barber quarters (7 to go) and dimes (14 to go) and ASE's (7 to go) will most likely sit

If you currently have 14 completed Dansco's then I think that's huge already. I agree with you though that building sets you know you're never likely to complete is discouraging. I love Standing Liberty quarters, but not enough to afford the 1916. Same with the Mercury dime. If I had to focus my money on one set it would have to be the type set, but maybe one of these days I'll get the Peace dollars Done too. Love the Peace dollar design and there are a manageable amount of coins to collect and the Key Dates are affordable. There are some proof Peace dollars that go for a hundred thousand dollars apiece but I suppose I'm more apt to dismiss those coins as outside the realm of possibility whereas something like the 1909-S V.D.B. cent would be in the realm of possibility but more than I would like to spend.

I have a very old Library of Coins Morgan dollar album, never going to happen. I own a total of maybe 10 Morgan dollars. All bought from the cleaned, polished, totally worn out, damaged junk bin. Of my current albums I am actually working on....I hope to finish those someday.

jack jeckel, here are two pictures of my setup. I use one of those Swedish desk lamps for my main light source and the microscope has four lights that I use to supplement the light. I'm not a professional nor do I want to be. I just want to take nice pictures for my own use. Here is a sample of the results that I am getting. batboy - I love the Kissing Lincoln.

Nice setup, Oldephriam. One of my goals this year is to improve my coin photography and this is a great inspiration.

I guess I'll never fill my customized euro type circulated set. Although I did find some coins in circulation I thought I'll never see - so you never know :)

I thought there would be more replies to this question. Maybe most hope to complete the albums they have started. For me, I have about 75 albums. At this point I am not sure where I am as far as having them filled. Most all the modern series are completed or up to date. At least as far as I plan to go. With a few exceptions SBA need 1981 S TY 2 and some of the more current Commemorative coins. Classic, I am waiting on some of the same coins as others. Mercury 1916 D 4 or 5 Indian head nickels 3 or 4 Indian Head cents3 Liberty head nickels Many of the others classic series have many empty holes. I like to think, if I live a couple more decades, I could fill at least 90% of my albums. The ones I don't finish, I hope a family member might take over the task. If I had to pick one album that I will not finish. Dansco Large cents. There are some really hard to find high dollar coins in that one. My suggestion to new collectors ...don't worry about filling all the holes. Collect what you like .. In the grades you can afford. And have fun

I will fill the albums I have. I am very close now. There are 26 holes to be filled. This includes the "extra" holes in some places (to be filled with whatever), but does not include the remaining holes in the ATB set (cannot be filled until 2021 anyway). Not sure what will come next. I would like to focus on one series though, instead of several like I have now.

I am hopeful to fill all the holes!! But then again, I have made a conscious decision to not start any new classic coin albums, so that makes it easier.
