On a recent CCF thread the posting started talking about getting a treasure chest and filling it with silver coins. The idea is sticking in my head. I am thinking maybe a box that will hold 750 to 100oz of silver. just guessing but I would want to keep the box in the 80lb range. I am thinking U.S. and world silver coins. I have many rolls of U.S. and Canada coins, and albums/boxes of world coins. Today I picked up some Australian Florin's, Mexico peso, Syrian coin and more U.S. coins ..

Nice pickups!
I'd love a treasure chest (wouldn't we all)! My "treasure chest" is a pretty small affair... but now you got me thinking that building a wooden treasure chest would be a fun project!

It just needs a few gold and some fine jewelry. If your building a treasure trove, build it right!

I had a pirate's chest literally filled with modern and early silver bullion. Unfortunately, I lost it all in a boating accident on the Great Lakes.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

I have search for a good pattern/drawing to build a good chest. Not sure if I would like round top or flat top. Also I think about what would be best to line it with. Sealed would Cloth Metal For size I am thinking .. About the size of two stacked ASE monster boxes. Also not sure if I would put the coins in loose or in rolls.

I have 3 I am working slowly on filling. A tiny one for a few gold pieces I have: A larger one for all my 2 oz. Provident rounds (Privateers, Cleopatra and Landmark Series) And the third one I can't get a picture of right now as the other half is sleeping but it is much larger and for 1 oz. world bullion coins. I will try to remember to snap a pic of it tomorrow.

Neat idea GR58. A treasure chest is probably something I might attempt in the future, in addition to coins and rounds I'd probably add some bars of varying size to mine.

I do like the treasure chest idea. fill it up with elephants, pandas, rounds, maples, etc.
but I think you fill it with these type coins when they are sold "as is" such as with milk spots already, toning, etc.
