there does appear to be something inside those letters, but doubling would also have extra above the letters. Can you get a clear closeup of the letters in question?

I'd definitely keep that one! It might not command a premium like a true doubled die, but it's very cool to look at and it only costs you one cent to keep it. I really like it...especially the ILIIIBIEIRTY. And if you don't want to keep it, you should stick it on ebay just for the heck of it. I'm sure there are people out there who will find it very cool looking.
