I do not own this coin, but saw it while browsing unrelated things; and the marks caught my attention, so I thought I'd ask for a little education. Are these chop marks, similar to what one sees on the US Trade dollars? Those certainly appear to be chop marks, but I'm not seeing any that look to me to definitively be translatable kanji characters.

I definitely do not like this coin. I think, that this coin might be a recent numismatic forgery.
Swamperbob might be of help here.

Quote: I think, that this coin might be a recent numismatic forgery. Concur. The lack of definition in the crown compared to level of wear of other features and the way it meets the fields is suspicious. I'm not familiar with the nuances of chop marks, but if the host coin is modern and not authentic then the chop marks would be as well.

That coin has issues (beyond the harsh cleaning). The denticles stop short before the edge of the coin, details are not there . I vote for a cast copy (modern one).

Another offering from the ring of Chinese sellers we've discussed on here periodically over the past year-plus... Numerous different IDs, usually with silly Chinglishy names... many of which you'd guess to be dormant U.S.-based accounts that may have been hijacked. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1804-Mexico...252401531290

The coin is a modern forgery in my opinion and from the looks of a few of the other coins he is selling, I believe most of his offerings are from the same source.
