Got this today. She has clashes in front of her lips and in the vee of her hair behind her head. Is this a long or short nock? What do you think? All opinions welcome Thanks...Mont.

Nice pick Mont. It's a reverse of '79 and appears to be a VAM-202, possibly 202A if clashed. Grade - MS63+.

I'd say MS-64. Very nice.

Thanks guys! I got this at a newly opened coin shop in Sand point ID. This is now my closest coin shop 65 miles away. Paid $70 good deal I think. @Dave700x Thanks for the VAM assist. This one is clashed on obverse but they look more like this. http://www.vamworld.com/1878-P+VAM-221-1AHas the counter clash in front if lips and the clashed "T" I will take new pictures later and post in VAM sections. Tried last night...but had hard time getting clashes to show.

I agree with Dave @63+, though it could end up making it into 64 holder.

I'm at 63 - both obverse fields are too nicked and scratched for 64, imo.

Right on the border between 63 and 64. Out of an abundance of caution I'll say 63 but it could certainly slab at 64 if grader is having a good day.

Quote: . May I ask what camera you use Mont? Of course you may. I use a Canon Eos Rebel T3. For coin grading I use the 55mm lens that came with camera with 13mm(for Morgans) or a 22mm(for Lincoln Cents) tube extenders. I have a 33mm extender as well and combine it with the 22mm for extreme close-ups. Camera sits on tripod to keep it steady and is tethered to comp to use Canons live shooting mode. Use comp for view screen before snapping picture. I also have 2 desk lamps for lighting. One is an OTT light Lamp and the other has a 5000K(white light)bulb. This is what makes the pictures look descent for indoor close-up shooting as I have learned from other CCF photographers. Also the black construction paper backing helps a lot too.

Thanks for the information Mont. I haven't had time to get to the photography section of this website. You have given me a head start. I do many outdoor videos with the tripod and video-cam, but use an inexpensive Cannon for all stills. Again very nice images on a beautiful coin. AG D

So I have 2 MS 1878's one is a strong 7/8 TF VAM-37 and has a CCF consensus grade of MS62/63. The second one is the one in this thread.
My question is which one should I send in for grading?
The other will go in a Dansco 7171 Album.
Thanks again...Mont.
