Hey guys, These pictures were taken with my phone and they are horrible quality. Perhaps I'll get some better pics if anyone wants to see, but here's something for now :

Hi Joe, You should really flatten those staples. Where did you get it? John1

My step dad found it when he was a kid in the 60's when searching a piggy bank!

Pictures not large enough and show the date up close if you can.

We need bigger close ups of this coin . Please remove from 2x2 first before taking photos . then put it in new 2x2 with better staples . Take caution in doing this as many guys have scratched coins with staples .

I hope it's real. Since it was found that long ago, I think the chances are quite good.

Are there indicators that will allow you guys to have a good idea one way or the other based on pictures?

Yea, it was almost 50 years ago that he found it! He was 8 in '66 so it could've been 50 years ago that he found it. That would also mean that these coins had been around for 10+ years. Were they worth as much then as they are now (proportionately) and were they faked that far back?

I believe they were worth a lot less 50 years ago . As far as counterfeiting them back in the 60's , not half as likely as they are today . Likely in your favor according to when and where your grandfather found it . still, try to get those blown up close ups of obverse .

On the later die states their is a die dot next to left lower wheat ear: An unknown marker by many. I discovered this when searching on Heritage Coins for the 1955 DDO cents.
