Good afternoon! I happen to have a Jefferson nickel and it's some form of an error. I do not know what type of error this is off hand. Does anyone knows what type of error this is? Thank you and hav a blessed day! Bill

Looks like an off center strike... since obverse and reverse are both off center. If only one side were like that I beleive it would be a misaligned die

Should I send this to one of the companies and have it slabbed or wait a while?

Off center strike.
When it went through the counting machine to be rolled into a $2 roll it was heavily damaged.
Don't know if it is now worth slabbing or not. Still, a neat find.

Nice off center strike, but the damage on the reverse is bad. My opinion, not worth much.

Agreed, off center strike but damage takes away much of the value

Slabbing would cost $30+. Is it worth it to you for a 'less than $10' nic? I've seen people send absolute garbage to TPGs, as sentimental value is greater than any monetary value.

Strange coins like this speak to me. Not just because of the error strike, but thinking how the person in charge of maintaining the vending machine(s) it might have been stuck in. He The person must have had to dump all the gumballs on the floor and get extra tools out to pry this coin out of its embedded predicament.
I just hope the person did not kick the dog when he they got home because of it. Thanks, Doug.

Nice find for your dad, Bill.
As is somewhat typical of off center nickels of this year, there is a corresponding collar scar on the right side of the obverse.
Too bad about the damage, but honestly, it adds character to an otherwise common error.

Very interesting, but agree not worth too much.

What does the rim look like on this one. I'm betting it is a partial collar?

I'm going to go ahead and say this got stuck in something, whether it's PMD or happened in the process, I don't know.
