First time poster, however, I've been here a lot while researching some coins in my collection. Recently received this in some change and knew something was off. Compared it to at least 3 dozen other 2016P dimes and and nothing else turned up like it. Some terms throw me, so I came looking for help. Not sure if this is a double die or just extra grease on the die itself. Also noticed a higher raised inner ring. Checked the back and noticed some oddities around America. What would be the proper labeling for this? Also, what grade do you think this might have? Hope the pictures are good enough, using my Cell with a macro lens. Thanks in advanced.

It doesn't look like trails to me. Better pictures would help. Can you shoot a couple straight on the coin? (90 degree angle)

Looks like Die Deterioration to me (worn out die). I've seen a lot like this on the 2016 dimes. They are running the dies for so long, the details get mushy and distorted.

In any case, to the CCF! I'd throw that in my FIDO* box if I were you. As an example. *Freaks, Irregulars, Defects and Oddities.

This is a fun place to learn lots of terms pertaining to Varieties and Errors. When the die is brand new it's called EDS for early die state, it later becomes MDS for mid die state, later it is LDS for late die state, and finally it is VLDS as you have learned here. Hang around and post pics of coins and in no time you'll learn how the die states and other events affect coins. Knowledge is power, in this instance, the power to detect valuable coins that without the knowledge you would ordinarily spend. There are lots of really good people on here (including leading experts) that love the hobby. We share our finds and talk about them. It's always good to have a new member that enjoys numismatics. You are very welcome here RRice, talk to you later.
