Feather extension indicates VF-35. The reverse is actually a lot easier to use for grading Barber quarters and halves as the circulation is consistently evident on the wings. Not certain on cleaning. I don't like "blotchy" coloration, which is a tell-tale of sing cleaning that's re-toning, but this one doesn't appear to have enough of that to yield a decision. At least not from me. LOVE Barber halves and this is a nice example. |

I appreciate the many responses here... I think that there's an outside chance of this coming in as a 40. I may or may not send it off for grading, undecided at this point. There's some meat left on the bone here. Protected areas still have strong luster (difficult to accurately photograph it), particularly on the reverse field with the stars and legends and on the obverse, a halo of luster encompassing liberty's head. A few scratches but nothing distracting. Appears not to have been cleaned. Photo I took last night was a bit dark... Here's an updated photo, again consider my handicap with the photo arts  Again, thank you for the responses. I'm out of my comfort zone with these coins, but I like it and I think that it was a good purchase. It's very nice in hand and it's the American equivalent of the early 20th-century Swedish Oscar 2 Kronors. (which is a conditional rarity much like the Barbers.)  |

i am way out of line with everyone else on this one. I'm looking at the LIBERTY, the separation of the leaves in the headband, the eagle wing tips, tail, neck,the sharpness of the rim and even some luster peeking through. I'm seeing at least an XF45 and possible AU50 coin. someone point out what I'm missing  Edited by panzaldi

@Panzaldi I'm not sure what they're seeing either, the more I look into it. Here's an AU-50 example from heritage. The 1900-Os are notorious for strike weakness from what I can gather.
