Here is another 2 Kreuzer from the German Countship of Pfalz-Simmern. This one is dated (15)77 and is listed in Saurma (#2071). I really like the little party hat in the obv inscription at 12 o'clock.

Superb Daalders on display this time around. Keep 'em coming!

This is a lowly uniface 2 Pfennig from the Austrian State of Salzburg that is dated 1576 AD> It is attributed as Probst 642 and Saurma 926.

I agree that is a great collection that's been shared here.

And the variety of coin issuing principalities we've seen over the last week has been impressive.

From 1575, here is yet another 1 schilling piece from the Free City of Riga:

How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Fourth-Edition!-Ended-At-1461-Waiting-On-1460-C.-E.-A.-H.-864

With 1577 being the most common date, I would call 1575 the second most common.

1574, on the other hand, is a much rarer date. The ones I have seen for sale were too expensive for me (with the cheapest being around thirty dollars), so I will have nothing to post tomorrow.

1575 early days of the Dutch Republic
Lion Daalder Type 1a (knight oriented to the left)
Dordrecht mint - province of Holland
Delm. 829 R2 to R4 (probably R3)
Delmonte correctly states:
"first autonomous coin struck by the States during the war of independence against Spain"
a coin with historical significance

all ± 15 surviving pieces (weak strike, poor primitive design) give the impression of a quick and dirty job done during the turmoil of the last months of 1575 when the mint of Dordrecht was in bad shape
the rapid succession of types 1a => 1b => 2 has corrected this weakness of representation

Wow! Scarce coin!

Here is a more boring French teston of Henry III. I don't intentionally collect royal France, but Henry was also briefly king of Poland (1574-75), after Zygmunt II (Jagiello) died without an heir in 1572 (and I do collect Poland). During this brief period when he reigned concurrently, French coins with his name bear the legend "King of France and Poland."

I have another coin from this date!

1575: 1 schilling from the Duchy of Courland.

The pictures make the date very hard to see, but it is near the top of the first picture (below the legend).
