for all intents and purposes hasn't Dansco already gotten out of the business? I've thought about just one Dansco and that was the Israel type set. If they have made that recently I find no one on this planet selling them! Nor do I find anyone on ebay selling a used one. and to my knowledge there isn't another manufacturer that has a similar type album for Israel - or is there?

I like the looks of the Dansco better, but my goal is to get away from cardboard contacting my coins.
But being a DIY-er I want to do my own.

Quote: If Dansco stops making, maybe I will finally be able to sell my extra Danscos and slip covers! If that happens, you can almost count on it and probably for a tidy profit.

What if Dansco gets out of the coin album business. 1. There will be used or NOS Dansco albums for many years 2. For me, it might take a decade to complete the albums I have started. 3. It might take another decade to upgrade the completed albums. It that happens ... I am done ...

GR58, Since you have all the albums you want, you are in a different situation than someone just starting out. I don't want to be left in a situation where an album is no longer available or no longer has updates. No manufacturer can promise they will still be in business in 20 years, but Dansco seems to be phasing out of the business now while CAPS seems to be "entering" the business. Besides, CAPS allows customization that Dansco and others do not.
I recently purchased several CAPS pages and find that the background paper is easily removed for end user customization. I am looking into running them through an inkjet printer to print labels or print the page on plain cardstock and then use a hobby paper cutter (Sizzix) to cut out the holes for a perfect replacement. That would allow endless end user customization.

That's the beauty of our hobby, there are many options. I went with a 3 ring binder and 2x2 for my 21st century US type and Kennedy halves (oh and world coins too). Nothing wrong with customizing to suit your needs.

jwm74, you can go to capsalbums.com and create custom pages. No need to run them through your printer.

Cost! And they limit you to 20 characters (count out for 1974 D Eisenhower dollar 40% Silver). I asked if they could use a smaller font and/or two lines but received no response. So I looked at other options.

This is where you'll go ! Whitman Albums . Those are nice. I don't see Dansco albums going anywhere - too much of a market for them.

No new updates and no new orders being filled. I agree with weavus135. Dansco IMO may not be "Out-of-Business" but from what I see they are out of the business. I don't think it is a question of 'if' anymore.
My plan is to buy as many blank pages and blank albums as I can get, maybe get my own imprinter or just use a label maker with clear label tape and make my own. I have been doing this for about a year any way.

Wow, just ran across this. I was just starting the process of moving my coins from Littleton into Dansco. I just went onto the Dansco store site and a bunch of albums are no longer available. I may just have to stay with the Littletons. I bought three Dansco albums that are still in shrink wrap, if this is as is being said, maybe I could make out real well by holding to them for a few months then putting them on ebay. Update, there seems to be no shortage of Dansco stuff on ebay, for now at least. Has anyone ever actually contacted the company and asked what's going on? I hate the thought of switching to Whitman. I used those when first collecting. Almost every time I turned a page, a coin would slip down and vanish. No slipcases either.

Probably not a bad idea. It is rather disheartening to see Dansco go out with a whimper. I suppose I should be happy to have what I have.
