I think this 1883 shield is a little better than the 1869 I posted for grading. seems mark free, and has great luster in hand. Opinions on grade are appreciated!! Thanks, RK

It is a nice coin, especially the obverse which has a very nice shield and devices. There are multiple die cracks on both sides, but the obverse die seems to be failing. The center of the left scroll on the shield has a prominent mark.
The problem is the reverse which has multiple marks on the 5 and on the fields, with two large scratches left of the 5.
I am at MS61 again on this one.

I'm in agreement with MS63 here on this nickel.

I think that coin is better than the 1869 Shield nickel posted earlier. I'd grade it MS-64 with a shot at MS-65. Sometimes the photos make marks look bigger than they really are. The luster looks to be quite nice.

I will revise my grade to 62 plus. Still think the reverse holds it back. That shield and obverse are beautiful.
