A bit blurry, but does appear to have something underneath the 4.

To help verify, try Google Images 'threepence 1934 over 3 overdate'

Is this a 1933/34 overdate? Just posted the shilling to view.

Yes I did hear years ago that this coin exists. The 4 is a clear overdate. the 3 matches the overdate specification as well.

Quote: How many exist? Shilling overdate 1933/34. Does anybody know. I'm only a hobby collector but have been at it since the early 1960's and have read widely over the years and I've never heard of a 34 O/D Shilling. In its favour is that the Mints were playing around with modified Dies at this time and it looks legit, similar to the 3d O/D but these Coins were counterfeited in the 1980/90's by a Sydney Dental Technician, perhaps he experimented with a Shilling? Really need Walter,Eric or one of the other Dealers to comment.

This is the first time I've ever heard of a 1934 O'date Shilling.

These are scarce but not too hard to find. From memory there was a CAB article. Problem is how to get them verified and accepted as an overdate.

That's interesting,i hope someone can come up with the CAB article. Edit...if Google is correct its the Nov. 2012 article by Dr. Peter Andrews if anyone can source a copy.

I have the article by Peter Andrews in front of me. It is in CAB Nov 12 pages 34-35. He dismisses it as an overdate as the first 3 is higher and to the right on the '33 shilling and the 2 examples he has don't show much of a doubling to the right of the 3 and none above. He puts the line to the left of the 4 as a scratch on the die. He doesn't have the mark to the right of the 4. the OPs shilling might restart this debate and personally I'll sit on the fence until a higher grade example comes along.
