...but an achievement no less! I've really enjoyed the 50 States quarters over the years and when I first started roll-hunting, I began setting aside the best examples of each state I could find (regardless of MM). I got distracted by other things and stopped doing that. When I looked back over what I had, there were less than half of the states and territories represented. So, I just dumped them. I've become infatuated with proofs so I decided to instead put together a complete proof set. Tonight, I filled in 2008 and 2009 to complete the clad proof album! I'm also working (a little more slowly) on a companion silver proof set with a couple years filled in so far. Any thoughts on what to put in those two open holes? They kind of bug me. Maybe a 1976 drummer quarter and maybe an older normal eagle reverse quarter (a birth year or something).

That's an eye-catching set together in a Dansco, I really like it! Congrats on your I recommend putting in a proof 1998 Washington and a proof Hot Springs ATB in those two empty spots to represent the before and after of the State Quarters program. I also went through my State Quarters recently and realized I only had a date set, so now I'm trying to put together a complete P&D set. I'm tempted to expand to the proofs, but I better wait until the ATB's are done... *Edited to fix a typo

Thanks for the responses! Quote: Maybe a 1976 drummer quarter and maybe an older normal eagle reverse quarter (a birth year or something). I like both of those suggestions, thanks. I also like the ATB Quarters so I'm sure I'll start a proof set at some point. I think there are 4 years left for those? I gotta finish the 50 States silver proofs first, though.

I am an Aussie, visited West Coast and stayed with some domestic residents in Vegas in 2008. They had a cookie barrel with well over 2,000 current circulation coins randomly pulled from change. I managed to get a complete Statehood type set up to that time, for face value. Got the remaining coins in 2011 from a local Australian coin dealer, for an AUDollar each. Although not perfect coins, I share with spruett001 a modest but nevertheless satisfying achievement. This achievement has inspired me to maintain a complete type set of Australian issued for circulation comemorative coins of all denominations since the introduction of Decimal currency in 1966. This collection is still a work in process, as new types are issued for circulation. The collection currently stands at about 75 different types. All obtained for face value !

Great looking set , like the frosty look proofs can have.
I agree with a before and after the series pair in the holes.

That's a great set; I love the proofs.
For the empty holes, I'd show the 1976 obverse and (1998?) eagle reverse on this side. Front and back from the previous series, and you still get the drummer if you flip the page.

I would do a 1776-1976 proof quarter and a proof quarter of your birth year.

Quote: For the empty holes, I'd show the 1976 obverse and (1998?) eagle reverse on this side. I think the 1976 Bicentennial proof will be one of them. I have a proof set that I'd like to crack for the excellently toned cent and that will leave me with a loose drummer boy. A 1998 proof seems the most logical for the other hole. The earliest proof Washington would be nice but, there are budget limits. Then, the same can be done with the silver proof album on a modest cash base. Quote: Although not perfect coins, I share with spruett001 a modest but nevertheless satisfying achievement. Well done on your modest achievement! I wish I could say I got these for face (and they're only close to perfect). It will be satisfying when I fill those two remaining holes. It is nice to be able to decide what will go in there. I assume Dansco could have designed the page differently so as to not have extra holes. I'm glad they didn't. Edit: sorry coin197, I missed your post while I was posting. After looking into it, a problem arises concerning a birth-year proof in both albums. I can do the Bicentennial proof in clad and silver for each album and I can do a 1998 proof in clad and silver but, I can't do a 1985 proof in silver for the companion album. I'd like them to maintain composition throughout. I'm happy about the 1976 quarter votes because that is most likely the very first coin I actually paid attention to. Plus, I was a drummer boy (now a Drummer Man). I've also had the pleasure of meeting one of the members of the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps (whose younger brother I was attending college with). I did have aspirations of applying for it. Here's a pic of the "modern" drummer boys: This is all to say that the 1976 quarter reverse is something I have a little modern history with.

Congratulations, a nice looking set. Its easy to get carried away with these, I got half of them from circulation when I was out there and had to complete from back here with forum trades. Now I have most the parks and most the Presidential dollars too...fun if you can get them from your change but theres too many coins and over too long a period which makes it painful from abroad. Here in the UK they have figured this out too with huge series of Olympic 50p's which are extremely tricky to complete from circulation and comemorative £2 coins. I really hope these get the kids interested in the hobby. Any large set like this makes you feel good when its complete, in proof it certainly has some eye appeal.

Congratulations on the finished set. I'm sure it was satisfying. I am happy that the Mint did the Statehood Quarters. It brought new collectors into the fold.
