Hello coin collectors! I've collected in the past but now I'm deep and determine to get in deep in the collecting world. Excited to learn more from others who share the same passion. I already have a few coins I would love for everyone's opinion. I'm still very new and will have probably amateur questions but that's because I want to be informed of a vast an amount of knowledge. Here's a picture of one of my finds. Anyone know if this is a great find ? Or unique but common type? This is a 2002 Louisiana State Quarter, and I believe on the reverse side on the top left corner of the state outline ? Is this a Cud error? Edited by Bettybones24 07/30/2017 01:35 am

Cuds are on a coin's edge. That looks like a die chip.

Betty! I lived in Beaumont for a bit but, in Texas (and there are no mountains ). It looks like your quarter has a die chip in the Washington State area. There is much to be learned here and please do share any finds and ask any questions.

BettyB! I just learned something from this string as well. I've always called excess metal on a coin caused by a die issue a " Cud" no matter where it is. A "rim Cud" is on the rim, at least on the cuds-on-coins website.
