Agree G-6 but wouldn't be surprised to see it in a VG-8 or 10 holder.

Hair detail of a VG-8 coin but the rest of it is technically a G-6. So a high end G-6 for sure.

G-06, so close to VG. What's with the color?

I think it makes a TPG G6 as well; although there is some light porosity in places, it does not significantly detract from the eye appeal relative to the grade.

Thanks all for your opinions!. It seems the consensus is g6. It is graded vg8 by PCGS.

Would this be a coin you consider for a type set? I think despite its lower grade it looks like an attractive example for its age.

This coinhas vg elements. It has good detail in the hair and all the lettering is crisply visible. Oddly it doesn't have full rims. Do I want to own a coin that says vg8 on the holder without full rims?

If I pay g6 money for it, yes, I'd love to.
If I pay vg8 money for it, no. Why would I pay full freight for what is arguably an overgraded coin?

Draped bust cents in g-vg aren't rare.

You seem thoughtful and open to listening to various points of view. I have confidence that you will make the right choice for you.

Nice coin. I'd be in for $160 to maybe $180 depending on my mood. I couldn't go all in for $200 plus on this which is what I would guess is the asking price.

I can see the VG-8 grade. I agree with everything NS said except lack of rims isn't uncommon for this series. The issue as I see it is the flat face and lack of any definition in the eye, nose and the whole portrait. That's what knocked it down for me to a G-6
