I have a 1982 penny, which I know has some significance without having any errors; but I have one that, has me looking at it over and over again. Okay the pictures I wish were better quality, they do not do justice in showing exactly what "my eye" is seeing and for that I apologize. So, outside of Lincolns eye there is a tiny raised circle, resembling what an eyeball would look like oddly enough where his eye actually is that same circle appears to be missing, same size...it looks almost like a circle was taken from there and placed on the outside of his face, very weird coincidence very irie. Also there is a hole inside his ear, it goes deep but not intirely through that I can tell. Lastly outside the ear in his hair seems to be a bigger, wobbly shaped circle that is also raised. I appreciate any help, again I apologize about the images they are particularly upsetting to me because you cant see what you would see if you could hold it in your hand and look at it. Have a great day and I appreciate any time anyone takes in reading or responding. It is very kind for anyone to help educate or just to give their opinion or input at all, it is very much appreciated.

Hello, Hope. to the forum.

This is undoubtedly a copper plated zinc '82. The artifacts you see are all caused by zinc corrosion. The copper plating will bubble and cause what you see.

to CCF.Your photos are fine. I agree it is just zinc rot. It is also a large date just so you know. Not an error just a copper plating issue.

To CCF! What you have here is Zinc Rot. When the Zinc layer gets exposed, this is what happens when it doesn't get stored properly. Your's is a Zinc cent. Value is 1 cent.
Errers and Varietys.
Rest in Peace

Glad someone has X-ray eyes like an XRF machine and can tell metal content without an accurate weight. 2.5gr zinc, 3.11gr bronze BTW. Also, circle in front of eye looks to be a coin contact mark(impression from another coin). While I do see some slight"bubbling"(?), I see many contact marks that should be exposing the zinc underlayer but don't have the resultant rot exposure look. This coin to be a copper issue.
