Is This A D/D Or D/D/D Repunched Mint Mark / RPM ? 1955 25¢

Beefer518 Pillar of the Community United States 887 Posts	Posted 11/07/2017 8:42 pm There are no listed RPM's for the 1955-D Washington quarter, but this coin definitely has something going on with the Mint Mark. With the loupe, it looks like a D/D/D, best I get see/show in the photos is what appears to be D/D. Does it look like an RPM to you, or does it look like Machine Doubling? I have gone through every device on the reverse (as well as the obverse), and so no other doubling on anything. I would think that if it was MD, the doubling would show in at least one other device. Multiple photos are with the light coming from different angles. Report this Post to the Staff

Another photo from another angle shows it quite well; Even through the loupe at this angle, I couldn't see the shelf doubling. Magnifying it about 100x makes it obvious though. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 11/07/2017 11:10 pm You can see the areas it reduced. A RPM or a doubled die enlarges the devices. MD reduces the normal size of the devices with a flat step down look. Also not of the first image, how the 'D' is reduced in size with the MD. Report this Post to the Staff
