I've been working on an UNC Buffalo nickel collection (just a year collection) as I can't afford to do a complete mint mark one. However, it's been fun. Takes a while, though, and I can see that after it's finished I will be looking to upgrade. All are slabbed from PCGS, NGC, or ANACS mostly in grades 63-64 with a few later date 65s and the 38 is a 66 (originally picked that up raw). So far, I have 13 v. 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38 (Ha- only the tough expensive years left!) Here are some pics of my recent acquisitions. I just got the 26 today and really like it. The toning on the 36 is quite nice in hand. 13 looks a little flat (but I think that's normal for the strike on this version) and I think the 27 is fairly graded at 63. I'll keep you posted.

Truly stunning collection you are forming. I'm glad to see you are choosing the coin itself, rather than the TPG. Very nice even mint state grades. Just a fantastic goal to work toward. Congratulations.

Excellent idea to collecting an UNC set of Buffs. They are TOUGH, but beautiful!
In my humble opinion, quite possibly one of the top two or three toughest series to grade. Each date and mint, seem to have different strike characteristics, therefore, different grading criteria.

Thank you for sharing! I hope to someday work on a similar set as it is one of my favorite coin designs. Please do show the rest.

Great start at that set. However, if it was mine, I'd be breaking them all out and putting them in an Album. That many slabs takes up a lot of room. Imagine what that set will be worth when complete.

You get a "Like" from me. I do think at some point you will have to accept some circulated issues unless you have an awful lot of money to spend, but your approach will make for a fantastic set in the end.
