This time of year is a period when many people review the previous 12 months, as well as set their sights on goals for the coming year. With that in mind I thought it would be educational and fun to share our own aspirations for our coin, token, or currency collections. Still on my top list is the completion of my classic silver commemorative 50 piece type set. I still need one. I've been awfully picky about that one as it has a personal connection to me. But with that one being the only one left, I hope to close out a top 20 registry collection. I won't mention which one it is that I still need because ill be running a contest on that. As many of you know, I collect year sets rather than series. I have only one date left to finish which is the 14 pieces from 1934. I still need 5, but the Walkers and Peace are done, and only the 34-D Washington remains as a challenge. And FINALLY I get to start finishing a higher grade type set, 1794-1964. While I've grabbed a good number of types as ive worked on my date sets, this will actually become my big goal, rather than a side result. It will be a joy to have such a large number of coins to peruse and I plan to be very picky for my type collection. Finally, ill keep my ASE NGC 70 set going and hope the mints keep the different types minted to a minimum. What are your plans?

My goal is to better focus on my main collection and stop starting mini, off topic collections that drain most my money.

Hmmmmmm,
I think I will keep it "simple" due to my work schedule. LOL
I will aim to get 75%+ complete with my US year set 1776-date. Maybe I will even decide which foreign coins to use for the early/super expensive dates. lol

I "completed" my 2017 goal of a complete 1938-2003 date/mm set of Jefferson nickels and went a little beyond. It's not finished, though. My 2018 goals: Upgrade remaining Jeffs in need to BU (many). Acquire all remaining Jeff proof issues (by year, not variety) Move all Jeffs to a Dansco. Acquire the 1999-2003 silver proof quarters for the 50 States silver proof album (w/ DC & Territories). Get LMC & LSC Danscos and apply coins (no rinse). Sporadically look for LWC upgrades/additions. Add to, if not complete, the Nuremberg 20 pfennig transit token set (36 to go). Randomly add to my ALOFEC (At Least One From Every Country) set. Acquire my first CSC, preferably Texas. It's a lot of stuff for me, but many are easy to do. The major hurdles will be mainly the Jeff proofs, then the transit tokens and the CSC. The CSC will be a first for me and it may take the whole year to find the right one for the right price at the right time. Wish me luck!

Continue with my OFEC. A. One From Every Century B. One From Every Culture, covering the whole of numismatics since the invention of coinage, 26 centuries ago. Not really all THAT high falutin'; there are actually quite a few of us around the World. Of all coin Forums, the CCF by far best suits my needs. I am a generalist, not a specialist. That is why I have so much to learn from the specialists, here in the CCF.

My goal for 2018 is to continue to focus on upgrading and filling in the missing holes of my US type coin collection. I have two main focuses, a higher end certified collection; and a couple Caps Type Albums for my raw coins.
I have 18 holes in my Caps albums. Some, like the early Bust Coins, will be harder to fill than others. I'm very selective and take my time so I can focus on quality, eye-appeal, and coins I love (to credit Moxking's advice.)

I always love seeing what others are searching for. It's pretty rare that two collectors want the exact same list.

Simple goals this year, maintain my yearly sets of silver proof sets, Silver american Eagles, and Silver commemorative dollars. If I come across some commemorative gold I may splurge.

Noting special, but my goals for 2018 include: - keepin up with 2 € cc's - to include some new coins to my Franz Joseph I collection - perhaps to buy a nice Morgan or Peace dollar. Among other coin related stuff, I'd like to visit coin collection of National museum.

I only started collecting a few months ago, so my goals are a bit more basic. In 2018 I'd like to: - Hone my grading skills - Finish my Roosevelt dime and Jefferson nickel Dansco albums - Start collecting Peace dollars in MS65+ and get at least half of the dates/mms. - Buy a gold Double Eagle in MS65+

Things I hope to achieve in 2018: A) Acquire a decent 1814 Capped Bust half dollar and upgrade a few of my CBH's to higher grade examples (aiming for XF-AU, original with eye appeal). B) Acquire a upgrade to my current large size Capped Bust quarter. C) Acquire a AU/MS Flying Eagle cent for my type set. D) Acquire higher grade Barber coinage for my type set. E) Continue learning and becoming a better collector both in coins but also in antiques and collectables so I can spot/capitalize on deals and rare opportunities when they appear.

Working on your grading skills is the best goal I've heard, even if coin types were more to the question. Take a look at Peace dollar prices on 65+ before committing to that goal, and buy TPG if you do. You might try to pick each date,/mm closer to your optimal buying range. A 34-S would cost a small house or two.
