Just saw this article. It was written late last year. Hope it wasn't referenced already. I like it because it gives me an idea of what to look for, besides just older dates and mint errors. Here's the link:
https://www.thespruce.com/most-valu...hange-768897.

I'm sure many people here know most, if not all, of them. Some were new to me and, for ones I already knew, it describes exactly what to look for. If you don't want to read the article, here are the 10:

1. Lincoln Cent, 1969-S, DDO
2. Lincoln Cent, 1970-S, DDO, sm date
3. Lincoln Cent, 1972, DDO
4. Lincoln Cent, 1999, Wide AM rev
5. Lincoln Cent, 1995, DDO
6. Wisconsin qtr, 2004-D, extra leaf
7. State qtrs, in high demand, inc CT, GA, IL, TN
8. Roosevelt dime, 1982, no P
9. Presidential dollars, missing or flawed edge lettering
10. Kennedy halves, 1965 to 1970

Some of those are really great to find, although if you consider likely hits in circulation, I'd say the Kennedy halves would be really rare, considering almost no one uses any Kennedy's.

Thanks for the link. I'll add them to my nephew's list of coins to search for.

Why would CT, GA, IL, TN Statehood Quarters be in high demand in UNC condition as the article suggests? These all were minted in the hundreds of millions. While still not exactly scarce, the Territories quarters have a much lower mintage.

I'd make sure to add the 1998 and 2000 LMC WAMs too (yes, the article mentions them, though they are not as profitable).

Regardless, it's a good list with sweet photos. Thanks for sharing.

Took the words out of my mouth.

A lot of the 2009-2012 Territories Quarters have mintages below 40 million. Most people don't seem to be aware of this.

I would replace item #7 with 2009-P and 2009-D Nickels and Dimes.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

I have reservations about this article in a couple areas:

The 69-s DDO was confiscated by the Secret Service until the mint admitted they were real? Doubtful, why would the Secret Service be involved in this? I am sure I would have heard about this and they offer no reference to support it.

I also have reservations about the common State Quarters listed like the others do. These are easy to find at coin shows for a couple dollars above face per roll.

Edit: It appears the reference to the confiscation is real, so I take that back... They still should have put a reference in the article.

Interesting list ...thanks for posting.

I have many of these coins.. and sure would like to find more ..

For the State Quarters, I have to think it means in high grade.

CT and GA show good value in high grade, MS 67 and higher.
I think the quality of all 1999 quarters were poor.

I have heard that a lot of IL quarters were used to make Obama coins.
They also have better price guide price, in MS 67 or better

TN quarters were harder to find, when I was putting rolls away.
But not sure why they would be on this list.

I don't have access to Greysheet right now ..checking the roll price might help.

As mentioned State Quarters were made in very high mintages, if your going
to put them away, try to pick the highest grade you can find. Saving
lower MS grades, and lower, will not see a increase in value.
