I have looked around online for various folders as I want to start a collection of Lincoln Memorial cents, and I was wondering what the best ones were?

Also, is there any folders that go from 1959-present? or are they broken up? Ive seen some like 1959-1998, then another for 1999-present.

Thanks!

I like albums better than folders. Coins in folders can sometimes react to the fumes from the glue. I use Dansco albums, but before I switched I was using Whitman folders. I think the Whitman blue looks good with Lincoln cents.

Second question, on folders, yea, they're broken up for the most part. A Dansco Folder may go a bit further, but you pay dearly for it. If you're looking to go cheep, any of the Folders, Whitman, Harris, Littleton are all around the same cost. If you want better protection for your coins, consider an "Album", where there are plastic lenses that cover the front and rear of your coin, and allow viewing of both sides. What I did for my LMC set, was order the Whitman album, 1959-to 2003 with spaces for proof, then purchased two additional blank cent pages to accommodate the following dates, proofs and also proofs prior to what Whitman had labeled (pre1968). That way ALL coins are in one binder, you can buy label sheets to put in any additional dates needed.

Dansco albums are probably the best album for LMCs.

I bought a Dansco album for LMCs. It includes labeled holes for the 2009 Bicentennials and proof-only issues. There are enough blank holes on the last page to add many earlier proofs or continue with BS coins past 2009.

The quality seems nice and it cost me about $30. It is soooo much better than a folder.

2x2's in 20 pocket pages in a binder offers a way to have the whole set in one place. You can include grade, date/mm, mintages, and other information in any way you wish.

I'd spring for a Dansco or Whitman Album so you can see both sides of the coin plus they offer protection for your coins over folders. You can put together a nice red uncirculated set of Memorials relatively easily and it's worth it to get s nicer presentation that an album provides.

Folders are fine if you are building a set from circulation, but albums should be used for better coins, especially when considering long term protection and ease of view.

That being said, regarding folders...

Harris, Littleton, and Whitman all have the Memorial cents broken into two folders.

Dansco seems to be the only one with them all in one folder, but looks to be out of stock...

Probably the best way to go. This way you can make it whatever you like.

I have a binder with 2x2 cardboard holders for the extra Wheat Pennies I have, and I agree that it is probably a good way to go in terms of keeping the whole collection together, but I like the idea of having an album.

Thank you all for the suggestion for a Dansco album. After looking into it, I ordered one for 1959-2009 album. ;)

Good choice. I have a Whitman album for my "from circulation" cents and a Dansco album for my nicer cents.

I use plain ol' 2x2 cardboard flips in plastic pages in a binder. 100% customizable to your specific needs.
