I'm about to pick this coin up to add to my passion for rare Morgans. I would very much like a higher grade but I do not mind having a few in different grades. Just curious as to other thoughts before dropping the hammer? Thanks Edited by SuperPoacher74 06/10/2018 08:22 am

What's to think about? The label says it all. My only consideration would be the asking price. IMO $200 tops.

If it is under $250 then maybe...just maybe. I would look around for a better one. John1

If YOU like it, can afford it and will be happy with it is all that matters.
As far as the coin goes the cleaning appears to me to have been very light and done long ago.

I personally would look for an example with original surfaces, but if you like it that's all that matters.
I can see hairlines on the obverse. Definitely cleaned.

The hairlines are relatively light in nature, indicating that the cleaning was done by someone wiping it with a rag or cloth which had dust or dirt or other contaminants that abraded the coin's surface, and then only on the obverse. It's light enough that it may have even happened in circulation, or while in an album.
In terms of eye appeal, it looks original otherwise, especially in toning and contrast, so it was not chemically cleaned.
I would consider this coin as slabbed to have suffered only a slight loss in market value, maybe 10-20%, and I would bet if you broke it out of that ANACS slab it would sell for close to full market price due to demand for the date/mintmark and the fact that eye appeal was not excessively compromised. I would also add that it is overgraded at VG10 and is closer to a technical VG8. My valuation would be $200-$220 as is.

I too would rather see you wait and pay just a bit more for a nice original one.

Have you checked VAM WORLD to compare the mintmark to known varieties?

Wait for an original piece, preferably in PCGS plastic when considering key dates.

For a Details coin, it looks pretty decent. If you can get it for a good chunk under FMV, I would consider it.

Eye appeal for the grade is decent. As for a price? I tend to agree with Kanga. An upgraded fine shouldn't be much more.
