I have a penny that looks like a mis print of a copper 1943 penny. I don't know much, just learning. Help!

I moved your post to the appropriate section for the proper attention.

Your coin looks copper in color, so a 1943 is less likely.

I don't think so. Just a damaged coin.

From all the apparent scrapes and gouges in it.

As mentioned appears damaged after strike.

The pattern wiping out the devices around the periphery is often caused by coin wrapping machines. Another source cause could include old gumball or vending machines. Regardless what the cause, it was not created at the time of strike, but rather after. Thanks, Doug.

Yep, just damaged. I'm not sure if you could determine what date it was, but it is highly unlikely it was a 1943.

It really has no value in that condition.

@SM, welcome to CCF. If you hang around and review the other threads in this part of CCF, you will quickly find that you can start to tell damage from mint errors. This is a great place to learn.

I agree. Coin wrapper damaged. when the end of the rolls are tightened, the machine damages the end sealed.

It matches the location perfectly.

coop, why did you make the 194X cent grayscale? Now it does look like a 1943!

I was using the title of the thread, thinking that it was a steel cent that was established? Missed the question mark.
Fixed it.
