Have any of you been finding NIFC coins in circulation? Yesterday I went to the small bank inside of Walmart and asked if they had any dollar coins. They had a few so I got 10 dollars worth and this Teddy Roosevelt dollar was among them. A couple weeks ago I got this proof Kennedy half from a different bank when I asked for half dollars (it was the only one they had). I've also gotten JFK and 2015 NA dollars in the last month and a half. Are you noticing more NIFC coins out there or am I just running into them more often than I would expect? If you are finding them, where did you come across them?

When I pick up small dollar rolls, I usually find at least one NIFC Pre$ or NA$. In terms of daily commerce though, I've only found one S-mint ATB Quarter (circulating strike) in change. Not too often do I find any NIFC there. Nice finds at the bank DeputyMax!

On one of my trips to the USA I went into a bank in Richmond, VA and asked if they had any halves. They had about $17 worth, which I got for face value. Among them were several 40% including this 1969S proof. In the UK I've had a 1998 pound coin in change (only issued in BU and Proof sets), and when hunting through bags of 5p and 10p coins in the early 1990s I found several 1983 5p and 10p coins. I also once had a 1982 10p in change at my local post office. No 10p coins were issued for circulation from 1982 to 1991 and no 5p coins from 1981 to 1986, so all of these were escapees from Royal Mint BU sets.

I have found several hundred, mostly in the Kennedy half. 1970 D and S, and 2002-2015, and many clad S-proof. All from circulated bank rolls. I had so many I let almost all go...was roll hunting $35k or more per year for five or six years straight so I saw a lot of variety.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

Regarding Kenndy's, all the time. Mostly clad proofs while searching boxes. I throw them back. I've found a few commemorative halves, I hold onto.

Like some others here, I have received a few NIFC Presidential dollars when I ask the bank tellers for any dollar coins they may have in their drawers. But I can't think of any time I've received a NIFC coin in "real" change (i.e., a cash retail transaction).

Quote: . Are you noticing more NIFC coins out there or am I just running into them more often than I would expect? I'm pretty comfortable saying that I do believe more NIFC coins are ending up in the wild for a few reasons. The first would be that moderns have gotten more popular. More people are collecting them or searching sets/bags/rolls for high grade examples ect. That of course means there will be extras especially if people are getting sets for just a couple coins. In the past you could take the proofs or extras and get a little over face from a dealer or sell them online which kept them out of the wild but today it's hard to make anything with a lot of those types on ebay and a lot of dealers don't really want them or have enough already and will just give face value. That really just leaves most people with two options which is to spend them or take them to the bank. Most if not all banks have gotten rid of the change counting machines from the hassle and the lawsuits with them which means the coins go into rotation more instead of the machine to be shipped off to the company. It's still a struggle to find silver especially with half's and quarters, but more often than not it's very likely somewhere in the bank is something that wasn't intended to circulate Quote: . But I can't think of any time I've received a NIFC coin in "real" change (i.e., a cash retail transaction). It's definitely less likely in change. A lot of cashiers in retail stores will buy coins out of the drawer if something unusual comes along.
