I have continued to update my completed 7070 Type Set. Last night I purchased from Harlan Berk a ANACS slabbed MS-64 RB 1907 Indian Head cent. Other recent upgades include a MS-62 No Rays Shield nickel, a MS-60 Barber quarter, a 2002-S Cameo Proof Sac Dollar, a MS-63 WC Liberty nickel, and of course the long awaited Oklahoma Quarter. Still would like an AU Barber half, but man those things are expensive. This is still my favorite part of my collection and has continued to be a lot of fun. I am also upgrading my completed Franklin set to BU and all available proof examples.

Forgot one. A MS-65 1941 Mercury dime. Anyone else completed a set and still upgrading?

Tights, I posted pictures of the completed album about a year ago. Here is the link to the thread: http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...PIC_ID=15202

Currently my collection is in a bank box. When I get further along with the upgrades I will re-photograph the whole thing and post it.

I'm still working on mine and it's going to take a long time to complete. Its hard to find the right coin at the price I can afford.

Shatsi, I visualized it as a long term project and I tried to enjoy the ride. I started mine five years ago and started acquiring coins before I bought the album. In fact, I didn't buy the album until I had acquired ALL the coins. This helped me not to be discouraged. At least I would have some cool type coins if I never acquired all the ones I needed. Before I knew it I had them all. Some of the coins I purchased have really gone up in price today, particularly the Seated dollars, Bust types, and early copper. Someone advised me to buy the more expensive coins first to minimize the future cost increases (I had to draw the line at the gold page), but that only works if you believe that the coin market will continue to appreciate from the outrageously high prices today. It may not if the US and world economies continue to be slammed. On the other hand maybe they will keep climbing in price? Another problem that exists today, that I didn't face, is the recent influx of high level, slabbed fakes from China. Definitely a challenge, but you will love the look of that completed album when you get it finished. Best of luck!

I am relatively new to the hobby here (or, at least I took several years off). I had never heard of a 7070 collection until now. What do you typically try to add for some of the more common slots, like the Lincoln Cent from 1909 - 1958? Just the best looking one you can possibly locate? Do you ever try and stick with something like maybe the year in which you were born, just for an added twist?
I am thinking about getting one for myself now after reading about it on this site!

At first, most of my common modern coins (Cent, Nickel, Dime, Quarter, and Half Dollar) were dated 1993, the year I bought and started the 7070 album. Today, only the Lincoln Cent remains the original 1993.

The Jefferson nickel was changed to a 1958, from a BU partial-roll I acquired from a friend. One also went into the Jefferson album.

The Roosevelt dime and Washington quarter were changed to 1973, from a 1973 Mint set I bought to fill holes in my Eisenhower dollar and Kennedy half dollar albums. The 1973's in my Dime and Quarter albums were already BU.

The Kennedy half dollar was changed to 1968D, a nice duplicate from bank roll-searching.

MKLPatrick, No I haven't tried adding specific dates, All my common dates are at least MS65 or proof and I juat used the dates I had in proof sets, mint sets, or the the one I happened to purchase. That sounds like a great idea to add interest and personalize the set. Wish I had thought to look for those 1947 examples.

Could someone tell me how Dansco describes the 7070? Does it purport to be a 19th Century and 20th Century type set? If so, not counting the early 19th Cent. draped bust coinage( which would add 5 more types) , there are at least 19 types missing from the Dansco 7070.(this does not take the gold into account)

Don't get me wrong, the coins imaged in the 7070 are beautiful coins and would make anyone proud. But as a type set, it is incomplete.

As someone who is also working on a 19th and 20th Century type set, I know first hand the feeling of trying to complete a set. It seems that no matter how many coins I get, there is always 1 more.

You are correct it is not a complete Type set, especially as regards some of the early 19th century silver coinage. If it were I would never have completed the album, as I know my budget can not afford an 1804 Bust Dollar, or a Draped Bust Half Dime or dime etc. For Dansco to sell any reasonable number of albums, they had to at least make it possible to complete for someone besides the very rich.

The album also omits some of the more affordable, generic types like the Three Cent Silver. I wish those had been included.

My 7070 has a place for a 3CS. Or are you referring to having a place for all three types of 3CS?
