I wonder how high this large cent will sell for.
It is thought it could sell for 1 Million.

It wasn't mentioned in Washingtons Speech because it was not a coin but rather a pattern to show the objection to striking cents as large as called for in the Mint Act (264 grains as compared to the size actually produced after a size reduction was authorized to 208 grains. Interestingly the Birch cents are actually smaller than they were supposed to be at only about 220 grains)

The example pictured in the article is NOT a Judd 3, it is a Judd 4. (Judd 3 has curlicues above and below ONE CENT and instead of a fraction below the wreath it has G. W. P. for George Washington President.) And it is not the only one known to exist with a plain edge, there are at least two of them.

Thanks for the education Conder.

At first I was wondering why they did not show the OBV also.

But in light of the rest of the article I wonder if the journalist just was not interested enough in coins to get the facts right (or is it just habit nowadays)?

Googled. Nice coin:

No one else was in the room where it happened.

Simply a beautiful and historic coin. If this fell into my lap, I may just quit trying to acquire anything else ever! For a copper hound these are the ultimate treasure, out of just about everyone's league.

Note the grade - this could have circulated?!

Either that or it could have been a pocket piece.

I'm sorry but I just can't get past the Bust of Liberty. It's just distracting.

It's not out of the question for 1 mil plus and will likely get very close to it at a minimum. The PCGS CAC AU 58 J-4 sold in 2015 at Batlimore for over a million.

Depends what you believe. There's only one known for sure and one known that had it's edge filed off. There could be a second real one, but they've never been seen at the same time and some believe the Parmelee one was the filed off edge.

Ignore what I said about it not being a Judd 3. My reference is the Pollock book and I confused the Pollocl number with the Judd number, it IS a Judd 3.
