This is my SECOND 1999 Wide AM ever found in the wild. I'm so happy to have found it, it was in a roll from a bank I almost skipped. Question, how do I conserve it? It has some zinc rot begining and I want to halt it. All suggestions appreciated. Sorry for the quality of pics, taken with phone camera. I'll soak it in acetone for the next 24hrs as a start.

Sorry, I don't have any advice for the zinc rot, but amazing find! I'm pretty sure that's the harder one of 3 WAM varieties to find! Congrats GC! -CH27

99 is the hardest to find. Acetone and then Verdi.Nice find. I have found only 1 1999 and more than a few of the 1998 and 2000 John1

Quote: It has some zinc rot begining and I want to halt it. That is a very good question, but one to which I don't have an answer. Once the copper plating is nicked and the zinc core exposed, I'm not sure what can be done. For sure you would want to keep this in a very dry atmosphere, but you may just be slowing down an inexorable process.

@cookiemonster, no it doesn't. It depends on what you're dealing with. Light fingerprint vs corrosion, it makes a difference

Is the rim all way around the coin. The image makes it look like part of it is missing.
