WOW! That is a very high end 14 D with a SUPERB strike. 64RB and shot at 65 easily!

This seller has no history of selling coins (mostly just orchestra tickets), and very little activity in the last year. Has the fingerprints of a high-jacked ebay account. I would stay away, and as noted, there is no reason for coins like this not to be in TPG holders.

Looks real to me, super nice coin if those pictures are telling the truth. That said, they are oversaturated, it's hard to read the fields. Probably a LOT of money to roll the dice on!

I dunno. That MM position sure looks good. Not that I'd consider buying it raw, mind you.

I agree, this looks like a high jacked account. Someone is going to get burned for 2500 bucks.

Is there a way to seatch the PCGS database for matching images? Perhaps the seller lifted the images from there?

the coin appears to be real but that's about all I can say. looks like obv die #5. I agree about the overexposed surfaces could be hiding something. if this is a clean coin with no surface issues it could be MS66 or even higher. why a coin like this is not slabbed is also a concern

Looks genuine, but the lighting might be hiding problem surfaces. The seller's feedback shows he was a seller of early BU Lincolns and IHC's in past years, and he also purchased some coins from GSC. It also shows a cancelled sale of a 1914-D gem BU Lincoln in the past, perhaps the same coin? I suspect it's cleaned or recolored, and that's why it's raw.

The seller also has a second high end 1914-D for sale for $2,200. What does everyone think about the grainy area near the reverse rim above EPU and the "R" in PLURIBUS?

Quote: and he also purchased some coins from GSC Well that certainly says something. My guess is the guy is or is selling on behalf of a coin doctor. Wouldn't be surprised if the coin was reworked/smoothed/tooled and recolored then photographed to hide the work. The coin does look really good, but something about the pebbly surfaces just doesn't sit well with me

The luster looks disturbed to me - either whizzed or wiped perhaps.
This is too big of a coin to buy raw in my opinion.
