I know I've seen pictures of this but I can't recall what it was called. The reverse has a very distinct horseshoe shaped low spot, yet the lettering is all intact where you would expect it to be shallow or gone. So that tells me it must have been struck over the low spot. Notice primarily the C and T in CENT. Notice also no raised spot on the Obverse. Dan Edited by Panther 02/14/2019 3:08 pm

Thank You everyone. I'm really not in it to sell coins, I just want to collect varieties and keep them. It's funny how 9 out 0f 10 posts always includes the sentence, "How much is it worth". The only coin I would sell would be the 1804 U.S. silver dollar.

It's also known as "ghosting." It's seen pretty often on the Wheat cents. (also the 3 cent silver).

Quote: I'm really not in it to sell coins, I just want to collect varieties and keep them. Sounds like me, I don't buy, nor sell, only collect. That said if I ran across the goose, that laid the golden egg, I might think twice. Quote: It's funny how 9 out 0f 10 posts always includes the sentence, "How much is it worth". I think its just as funny how many replies say its only worth face value, when nobody asked. Thanks, Doug.

So I'm not the only one that those two phrases bugs to no end. So Please, everyone stop saying. 1- Its only worth face value. 2- How much is it worth. By The Way, since 1982, a one cent coin is worth MORE than face value. Thanks everyone for all the input. Dan

Either way, its worth more than face value. I can get 3 to 5 cents for these common ones all day long!

@panther, regardless of the coin's value, this is a great example of PIDT.

How about this... It is worth whatever you can get someone to pay for it! Can you convince them it is worth more? If not... then it is in fact only worth face (market) value or possibly melt (copper) value... (If they would only do away with those stinkin' Lincoln's already... so I could at least double my investment. LOL... JK ) Some people want to simply collect and others think they will strike it rich... and if your lucky enough you may be able to do both! Makes cents to me... I do it for pun!
