New to this game (coin collecting). Hope the description is accurate. Found this coin in a collection that my dad willed me 15 years ago. Hope the pictures do it more justice that my wording. The coin is .105 oz and a normal coin of its year is .110 oz, if my scale is accurate.

Thank you for your help

@rebroy, first welcome to CCF. Second, while I'm sorry for the loss of your father, I'm excited that he has entrusted his coins to you and you seem to be interested in them. What a great passion for him to pass down.

With regard to your coin, it looks worn to me rather than a split planchet (which explains the relatively modest loss of weight. Yours has an interesting surface coloration. At first I thought it was the natural variation in alloy causing this (AKA as "woody" surfaces); however, the fact that the high points don't seem to have this coloration makes me think rather than this coin was plated a very long time ago and then placed back into circulation. I'll be interested to read what others here think.

Normal coin with extreme coin wear. Not a split planchet. If it were, then one side or the other would be missing the design like these coins:
Both sides of the coin (Split in half):

Other sides of the coins:

Note how both halves were saved. They are worth a lot more then this happens.

Actually, this IS a "woodie" -- an improper alloy mix.

To CCF! Nice Woodie! It is caused by an Improper Alloy Mix issue. http://www.error-ref.com/improper-alloy-mix/
