Can you tell me more about this bill? It says ". . .in Gold on demand. . ." on it, but it doesn't have the gold back like the ones I can find on this forum? Also, it has red bank ink on it? Can you tell me more? Also my scanning skills are so new, weird angles and strange edges are more me then the bill. Thanks

Very common note in this condition, and teller stamp detracts further. Hate to say it, but probably just a spender.

Well, sort of. The ink marks pretty much diminish any collector value. There are some techniques that might remove them, but even if removed, it is more of a novelty than of much (if any) value over face, no matter how uncommon.

Thank you both! Well its worth $100 at least :) I'm not sure any teller in my area would even take it for deposit *laughter*

 Seriously, just spend it.

I knew the very instant that I opened this thread and I saw the OP's note that it lacked numismatic value. It retains every bit of face value initially intended but the distractions take away any potential value. Unlike some coins, there is no intrinsic value in this note, so rarity and condition dictate the value. Unfortunately, it's not very pretty. (desirable)

Quote: Seriously, just spend it. Sorry, but I would hang on to it, if you can afford to. Except for the teller stamp, I see no serious folds, splits or tears. Like I said; I love 100's!

The reason I say spend it is, simply, that a hundred bucks is a lot of money that would buy something nicer with some upside potential. As is, this is "damaged goods" to a dealer or collector.

A quick search of ebay shows these are going for $105 - $135 each, but the red ink probably puts the value closer to the bottom end of the range. Don't forget to subtract your seller fees because a $110 sale might eat up any profits.

So this came to me as a gift from a family member, I had forgotten I even had it. When she passed I thought to myself "oh hey, there is that envelope, I wonder what is in it" If I had found something profoundly valuable I probably would sell but mostly they are just fun bills to have so I'll keep them for the time being.

And to laugh at myself from one of the other posts - it DOES have value just only face value of $100 cold hard cash!! **laughter**
My title. .. I think it has value. , was because its a later year - all the gold certs I've found have had the profoundly yellow back and this one doesn't.

There are ways to get the ink off. But you will need to do your own research, I've had both good luck and bad, so I won't elaborate.

It's a cool note for sure. I'd personally be torn on whether to save/sell/spend. That's mostly because I don't currently have anything like it in my collection. And if it has sentimental value to you... keep it.
