The guy was fairly reasonable and while I'm probably going to go back for the rest of his silver, He also had several hundred pennies a collector's widow sold him at less than face he would like to get rid of. I also a few cc mint Morgan's, a 3 legged buffalo, a 5$ gold piece, and some kind of tax chit that was way cool. That I probably won't buy. If anyone is interested I'll give you his info. While he is in vegas, he sometimes sells on ebay.

Looks like a nice silver stash @gc43. Probably best that he sells on ebay as it doesn't sound like he meets the qualifications for selling here on CCF: http://goccf.com/t/221419

Only one or two are graded and the one I looked at were a miss early Barber dime marked w, that the case said was a s. So most certainly not, but I paid well under spot for the silver, ikes included. Edit: I should ad he owns a consignment store and is not really a coin dealer. If I violated some rule please let me know. I just thought some of y'all might be interested in what he's got.

Yep no prob--sometimes it is just helpful to get a reminder. Silver for under spot is even better. Well done!

update apparently it is supposed to be marked s, though I don't know why s would have a w on it. I obviously don't know much about dimes.
*and its because the mint mark is on the back. Duh!

Nice score on the Ikes! There weren't any W-mintmark coins until the late 1980s.

Quote: I don't know why s would have a w on it. You said that coin was slabbed. Let me guess, slabbed by NGC? Was probably one of their slabs that they produced for a short time with either a T for Toned, or W for White (untoned)

Could it have been a Mercury dime? Then the "W" would be the designer's initial.

It was a Mercury dime, the w was the initial. I don't normally buy coins that small but if your gonna give them to me for a steal I'm not going to turn them down.

They would not have put the designers initial on the slab label (unless it was by a REALLY poor quality basement slabber that didn't know anything abut coins.)
