Top photo is too blurry. Bottom pic might be a bit out of focus. John1

If this is the F/2.8 lens be sure you open it up a bit to allow for a larger depth of field. I shoot around F/8 with most lenses, though practice and results will vary so do your own tests.
At F/2.8 the depth of field is very narrow, try shooting at F/4, F/5.6, F/8 for each stop you open you will need to increase the time of exposure as well;
If F/2.8 is 1/4 sec then F/4 will need a half second, F/5.6 will need a fill second and f/8 will need at least 2 seconds maybe a bit more. This is why a tripod or other holding device is important, and to eliminate any camera shake (Sony is a mirrorless camera so no mirror lock used) you can use the timer delay so the camera will settle down after you touch the shutter release.

Much better,still looks a touch under exposed, try a slightly longer timed exposure.

Rocky it looks like the copper is slightly out of focus on the bottom of the obverse, being in a slab is a tough thing to shoot through already, I just learned a trick from a shooter that uses sheets of paper around the slab to build up the lower sides of the slab to even the coin out. But over all I think your shots are improving, the lens is pretty darn sharp.

westcoin you have avery good eye. I know I still dont have every thing tighten down. I should be done soon so I can get this all set. it should inprove then. when you mount a really high end lens. with live view you can see even breathing can effect your images.
