I am not in the least surprised that slightly more than half of us are in the 55+ age group.
a) It is in this age group, that there may be more money to spend on the finer non necessities of life, such as art, antiques and collectibles. Coins just happen to be our thing.
b) It is also in this group that it is also common to find people that have had an interest in collecting anything from an early age, and have continued that interest throughout life.

Another possible reason many of us in the older group collect could be we got interested in collecting at a young age. Like I said earlier, I'm 66 and can remember when I was a kid it wasn't uncommon at all to get change back from a store that would include Walkers, Standing Liberty quarters, Mercury dimes, Buffalo nickels and the occasional Indian Head cent along with the Franklins, and other issues of the day. They were fun to show off to friends and family, and that may have put that little spark in us to save those little pieces of our history.

0x32. Not 0 x 32. 0x32 is in a hexadecimal notation. Quote: In mathematics, a subscript is typically used to specify the base, also known as the radix. For example, the decimal value 10,995 would be expressed in hexadecimal as 2AF316. In programming, a number of notations are used to support hexadecimal representation, usually involving a prefix or suffix. The prefix 0x is used in C and related languages, which would denote this value by 0x2AF3
