Scratches are on the holder. The luster on this coin is ridiculous.

The 1880-S Morgan is a date with an exceptional number of very high grade coins (all the way to MS-69). Some of these may be nudged up because of strike quality. MS-66 and MS-67 slabs are seen quite a bit. I see MS-66 here.

I don't know grade but it is a beautiful coin. I always seem to be thinking that ones are higher than they are and high ones seem to have details that on other coins seem to pull it down. I see what appears to be "noise" (for lack of better description) on the obverse field in front of the nose. On other coins I have seen that seems to keep it about a 64 but I always think something like that on a coin this age is normal. Can someone let me know why that makes little difference on this coin? thanks

I applaud the grading efforts on this coin. There are so many nicks and scratches on the holder its hard to tell whats on the coin and whats not. The reverse is flawless, the obverse is nearly flawless, a couple small nicks and some frost disturbances are all that can be seen. Cheek has no disturbances

That grade is well deserved. Congrats on owning such a beauty.
