Sometimes the answers may not make sense. But when you consider the full picture, things do fit into place.
1. The die that struck the coin is in its LDS die state. Note the flow lines on the fields on the date area. (first Clue) Then note the design above the mintmark area. Note the flow lines and the device is starting to crawl towards the closest rim. With the mintmark closer to the rim, the mintmark is showing movement towards the rim also.
2. Coin condition. It looks like this coin has been out there since its release into circulation. Note the cont marks on the coin and the rim area? Note the highest points on the design? What used to be a raised area, now has a flat spot at the top. The date is also showing this. This is called circulation flattening. Aging of the coin.
So knowing this, you realize the the coin and the die that struck the coin was showing wear. You factor this in when looking at the coin, then you start to see there is more than just an answer, but a reason for events happen to coins, events that happen to dies when coin are struck. Seeing the larger picture, then you make allowances for these when you spot them on a coin.
