Hello everyone want to share what I just found in a penny roll at work! I found a 1968 Lincoln misprint (I hope) that has Lincoln as usually with a small head of Kennedy? Facing Lincoln on the coin, has anyone heard of this? It is a perfect imprint of which I have never heard of yes I have pics and will get them here in just a moment, if I am able to do so, and also the reverse of the coin looks strange like maybe something smeared I don't know really but please if any one has heard of a coin like this let me know!  to CCF...It's a counter-stamp, I'm looking at my 1972P LMC with the same cstamp...Neat fun find to start a collection. Good luck on future finds..... I'm sure someone will come along and add a link for c-stamp finds (or you can use the search box) |

Google the following and look at the many images that will come up: "Lincoln Kennedy counterstamp penny" These were typically sold attached to a card which listed the many coincidences between the assassinations of both of these men. These were sold all over when I was a kid (60s-70s). Check ebay sold items - .99 each. Cool find though. and |

to Community. As mentioned above it is a counter stamped cent ( down outside of mint by third party).there are numerous examples with different icons made and still being made by individuals, interesting to collect tho. Here is an example of one previously posted on CCF  |

Counter stamps are from a punch with a design/message added to the coin. It can be various things.   Even the Kennedy/Lincoln issue was dealt with in a different format:  |
