I'd love to hear from the community regarding a grade for this 1798 S-138 Draped Bust Large Cent. Thanks in advance.

That helps. Looks like strong evidence of cleaning in lower right obverse field particularly. Overall, I'll say it lacks a natural "grit and grime" skin for a circulated coin of this age. High VF details (cleaned).

I think this has solid XF detail. It definitely shows evidence of cleaning but it wasn't too severe. Eye appeal is still pretty strong. It does appear to be S-138 which is of course from 1797.

That hairlined patch in front of her neck has the possibility of being quite distracting in hand - especially to the discerning EAC types.

I think it is a nice example with the details of VF20/VF25. It was quite likely cleaned, however.

XF details. I just had one come back from PCGS that was darker than this but the amount of wear looks similar

with Panzaldi it's a TPG EF all day long whether or not it details, depends on the day and chance. I think it's a nice coin and EAC grade would be a solid VF net for the cleaning marks or mishandling on the obverse. I wouldn't toss it out of my collection that's for sure. Large cents this nice are becoming the new low/mid line entry level as supplies dry up. A good conservation by an experienced EAC member might be able to actually improve it's look in a year or so.
