I just started collecting and this is my first good find I think. very unique protruding dot right in the middle of the P! YOU can see it with the naked eye. Any suggestions on what I should do next would be greatly appreciated. does anyone know what the value of this coin would be?

Congrats.
They do get your attention, especially the first time you come across one.

I will throw this out there as well. Sometimes a break in the copper plating can allow the underlying zinc to start to react and dissolve ("Zinc Rot"). When this first happens the copper plating can actually start to expand upwards and rise. (Zinc reaction is similar to iron when it oxidizes).

It is hard to tell from your image which may be happening but I agree with john1 about it being a die chip from a broken post on the die since there doesn't seem to be other areas of zinc rot or "eruptions".

Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.

Good eye and a fun find! As has been said, no real value added. While a broken post doesn't occur on every coin, its also not a rare enough happening to create a high value market.

It is an example of a post the broke off below the die fields. Thus the reason it is taller than the device on the missing post area. But no premium. You might save it to show to a new collector you run into.
