This one is going to be hard to prove, but I think I have a 1970 D Lincoln penny with a rotated reverse. I have used some masking tape to mark it. If you wouldn't mind giving me your opinions, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Nice find!

But you likely have tape residue (even very small amounts) on the coin now. This will act as a magnet for contaminants and cause the coin to either discolor or deteriorate eventually. An easy fix though is to put the penny into some pure acetone (inexpensive in the healthcare section at Walmart) for a 10 second soak. It will remove any tape residue.

A better way to show the rotated die would be to put it into a 2X2 and mark the cardboard, or take a photo of the cent in front of a small mirror so the OBV and REV show at the same time.

But that rotation is normal. We need to see it in a mirror to see how much it is affected:

Hold a cent with Abe head at 12:00. Rotate to the left or right (not flip it vertially) and you will see that the paper is on the normal rotation.

The coin does have a 'rotated' reverse. The question is, how rotated is it?

Look at the reverses of Lincoln cents mounted in filled Dansco albums (for example). Assuming the obverses are inserted into the album so they appear right side up (nice and straight), some reverses will come close to looking like the coin posted above.

Try the mirror test.
