I apologize for the pictures not being rotated to proper position , I'll try to get this right on this try around . I'll try and make the pics enlarged for better viewing I don't know how these pictures will turn out they are proper positioned on my phone , so if they are sideways I don't know how to fix that

I question the coin's authenticity from the word go. At a glance it looks counterfeit. The reverse lettering does not appear as genuine. Look at the E in UNITED as one of many examples of misshapen letters.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. How did you acquire the piece?

Once again, this is my opinion only. I have been wrong many times but I would not buy this piece.

For just one conflicting point that is easy to see, compare the much larger inside loops of the 8 in the pic below (of a certified 1851 P gold dollar) to the smaller loops on the coin you posted. Run from this one!

There's a softness and clear lack of detail on the OP's coin.

to CCF. Always best to remove coins from holders before taking photos. My first thought was a fake also.

I agree with both earle42 and BH1964 that the OP coin is a counterfeit. Here is your photo straighten out to compare to genuine coin. When you shoot your photos, it is best to take the coin out of the flip holder to reduce glare and distortion.

Again, can I ask how much you paid for it at the coin show back in 1987?

I agree with those calling this one out as counterfeit.
