I have this 1926 Sesquicentennial $2.5 (and also the 50c) and was wondering if its worth getting graded? This was my grandfather's and he would have bought it at the time in 1926. Could you get these at local banks at the time or did you have to attend the event?
Beautiful coin! Any AU to MS-63 runs in the $300s and MS-64 is in the $450 ballpark. With those prices, it is definitely worth grading. It's hard to get over 64 for a Sesquicentennial Quarter Eagle, but there is a big value reward if you do. I sure don't see any downside in submitting it.
